Family friend kills ayurveda doctor’s daughter in Greater Noida, flees with Rs 25 lakh; arrested

Police said that the man strangled the teen girl and escaped with the money when the doctor had gone to his clinic with his wife and other children. After his arrest, the accused tried to flee by snatching the police pistol while on the way to the police station.

The police on Tuesday night arrested a man hours after he allegedly murdered the teen daughter of an ayurveda doctor and escaped with cash worth Rs 25 lakh from their house in Greater Noida, officials said. The arrested, Pradeep Vishwas, 47, a resident of sector-82, was known to the victim’s family for many years, they said.

Police said that Vishwas allegedly strangled the 14-year-old girl to death and escaped with the money.

According to the police, the incident happened on Tuesday in Saraswati Enclave, Purana Sutyana, when the doctor, Sudarshan Bairagi, had gone to his clinic in sector-93, Phase-2, with his wife and two other children. The doctor’s 14-year-old daughter Shilpi was alone at the house, said officials of Ecotech-3 police station.

“During the interrogation, the accused admitted that he strangled his own friend’s daughter and ran away after looting the money and other valuables kept in the house. Vishwas is a vicious type of criminal, his criminal history and other detailed information are being sought,” said an official.

DCP (Central Noida) Anil Kumar Yadav said that Pradeep Vishwas tried to flee after snatching the police pistol while on the way to the police station.

“After arresting the accused, we took him to his house in Sector-82, where we recovered Rs 7.58 lakh and some jewellery. After the recovery, when the police along with the accused reached Kulesara Pusta, the accused asked to stop the vehicle on the pretext of urinating. He tried to escape by snatching the government pistol from a policeman who accompanied him,” said Yadav.
